An exclusive Back to Back Hood Video, shot to two tracks we’ve been featuring for the past month. Dubstep/Grime MC Rival features on Dubstep producers Z Dot’s instrumental to ‘Dirty Date’ & a personal favourite, Nytz ’Funky House’!
Random Impulse Refix Chase Status, SHM ‘Let you go’ ‘One’
Just when we thought Impulse couldn’t up the level he was bringing out of his weekly refixes….He’s just totally annihilated his most recent one!
His Guitar replaces the dubstep production of Chase & Status’ ‘Let You Go’, mixing in like a DJ to refix Swedish House Mafia’s ‘One’, that also got remixed by Doom Man recently!
There is definitely a gap in the market for Random Impulse!
BassWeight [Trailer] The Birth & Growth of ‘Dubstep’ ft Benga, Plastician etc
BASSWEIGHT is a feature length documentary that offers an unparalleled insight into the subterranean world of Dubstep.
Charting the genre’s growth from obscure origins in south London to global recognition today, the film features in-depth interviews with many of the DJ’s, producers and promoters who have been instrumental in Dubstep’s ongoing evolution.
Skream, Benga, Kode9 and Mary Anne Hobbs are just some of the key players who have contributed, reflecting on the movement they’ve helped shape; a movement that has come to define the importance of underground music in the 21st Century.
This highly stylised film travels from Dubstep’s birthplace in Croydon to Europe, Brazil and Japan, demonstrating just how huge an impact this initially indigenous scene has made at an international level.
Directed and produced by The SRK (Soka Afrika, Graffiti Asia, Rackgaki, Scratching the Surface: Japan), BASSWEIGHT documents this most clandestine of movements on its own terms and in its own voice.
Featured this instrumental from Dubstep producer Nytz not so long ago entitled ‘Funky House’, and it’s so greezy that Casio G-Shock used it in their East Session, where Rival and Ghetts freestyled over it.
Check the footage, and look out for Rivals Mixtape, ‘Return Of The Rivz’, that’ll be dropping soon.
DJ Fresh is a well renound up and coming Drum & Bass DJ from South London, who has released his 2nd album entitled, ‘Kryptonite’ on his label, ‘Breakbeat Kaos’.
I was tuned into DJ Bailey on 1Xtra last night, to hear that his track ‘Talkbox’ go Number 1 on the Drum & Bass chart, and it was a massive joint!
The album features vocalists; Koko, Ce’cile (who has worked with the likes of Sean Paul, Timberlake and Jay Sean), and MCs Valkyrie & Stamina MC.
Essentially ‘Kryptonite’ is a rocket-fuelled ride that dance music fans the world over will be revelling in for a very long time to come.
Cop the Album of iTune’s: http://itunes.apple.com/gb/album/kryptonite/id381722438
The Video is a Minimix, so here is the for tracklist that:

Also look out for Fresh & the legendary, Adam F’s dubstep makeover of Dead Prez’s classic ‘Hip Hop’.
Nytz is taking Dubstep to a different level, working alongside Rude Kid’s label, ‘Alien Muzik’, he has made a simple and effective sounding beat, dark with that ‘Alien’ feel, allowing the MC to spit freely on the beat. The bar’s from Marger are hard, and flow is on point.
