We saw this track played live at Camden Unplugged last week, along with a full set from the lads in the FrSH Ent camp. We’ll have footage soon.

Last year we’d safely say was the year for grime music blowing up, but this year there’s been a sudden rise in UK Hip Hop flooding the industry. Past years Hip Hop within the UK has always been in the background, with the likes of Grime, Dubstep & Funky over taking it.

Now artists like: G FrSH, Skandal, Black the Ripper, Smiler, Lowkey and many more are constantly in the public ‘online eye’, with quality bars, producers, videos and support of Hip Hop DJ’s such as Charlie Sloth, DJ 279, DJ Semtex, Tim Westwood etc supporting them on the airwaves.

The levels on this video are HIGH man! The track itself is a smooth club banger, produced by the one and only Nutty P and Smiler really does shine on it. He isn’t a weak bubble gum rapper and you can tell by his flow that he’s got serious skills.

One of my favourite Smiler joints from back in the day was ‘Pain’ .. youtube that fire! His delivery is crystal clear and he doesnt have to hide behind big beats because his words carry the track strongly enough. Plus he’s got that storytelling skill that not alot of spitters can pull off.

DEFINITELY one to look out for this year .. you’ll be hearing alot more of him in 2010 and seeing alot more of him right here on www.BSomebody.tv

XO MAN Live performance & interview ‘ILuvLive’ Camden

XO Man is the tallest UK Urban Artist, standing at 6″10, and his music is as unique as his height. Humour, entertainment and feel good lyrics is what you can expect from an XO Man live performance.

Starting his career, we remember him coming from a grime/garage background. His style has totally changed to a ska, funky/electro sound due to his love for other genres. As he states grime was just an entrance, now he finds himself; structuring songs, writing verses & catchy hooks with that special ingredient, The ‘XO Man personality’, rather than just ‘spitting’!

In 2008 XO Man became the winner of the ‘Hugo Urban Rules’ with his track ‘Microwave’, Wowing urban industry execs including SonyBMG’s Mervyn Lyn, BBC 1Xtra’s Twin B, Kiss FM’s Manny Norté and RWD Magazine’s Hattie Collins as well as the Sugababes.

XO Man went on to support the sugababes performing in front of thousands. He didn’t stop there, XO Man is always performing, building a solid loyal fan base around himself.

There’s a lot to to forward to this year from XO; the new track ‘Really Mind’. His EP ‘Unwrap the future’ is dropping in May, and you can catch him at, The Camden Crawl May 1st & YoYo’s April 22nd.

SMILER – I Luv Live Performance and ENZA (BEHIND THE SCENES)

On Monday we attended I Luv Live (Camden). Above is the footage of a south London artist called Smiler. Him and his enthusiastic band rocked the show and definitely caught the attention of the crowd that night.

The second track is called Enza, and has a video currently in production. Check out the behind the scenes video below, with the insanely funny Eddie Kadi presenting it.

Definitely looking forward to the video after seeing a live rendition of it and the behind the scenes vid.

She’s going to be big this year, especially if she’s constantly plugging good material like this.

In case you didn’t know, Emeli Sande is the singer on Chipmunk – ‘Diamond Rings’ & Wiley’s ‘Never Be Your Woman’ which we posted up earlier, both of which she smashes to pieces.

Get to know this singer called Jai Amore mayyn! Proof that UK RnB is well and truly alive… here’s a clip of him performing at iLuvLive in Camden this week. He has BIG stage presence, charisma and a great natural talent (check out his improvised website plug at 3.20 mins for proof!)

I recently had a really interesting discussion with him about the music industry and discovered what an honest artist he is. Determined to make music he loves and not water down just to please the industry, Jai Amore’s original approach combined with his great voice and unmatched live show can only mean big things on the horizon .. no doubt.
