Akala, Sway, Lowkey & Black The Ripper – Yours & My Children Live Performance

This was footage from last nights Dead Prez concert at London Forum, where Akala was in support, and he did a special version of his next single Yours & My Children, from Akala’s excellent album Double Think. Akala brought out Sway, Lowkey and Black The Ripper to do guest verses, which will feature on the release. That’s an almighty line up of UK talent there!

Lowkey I Still Believe ft Black The Ripper Akala

Lowkey featuring Akala & Black The Ripper – I Still Believe

Three of the best UK rappers team up together on this heavyweight line up, on this aspirational record – the original of which is from Soundtrack to the Struggle. Akala recently dropped a brilliant album a few weeks back called Doublethink, which is well worth checking out, especially for his profoundly meaningful track called Find No Enemy. And before that, Black The Ripper released a stellar mixtape titled Edmonton Dream, which was seriously blazin hip hop, packed with 60 full on tracks! As well as winning the best F64 popular vote. All these credentials make this collaboration with Lowkey (an ultimate ambassador for conscious hip hop with depth), all extra special.

Logic Loving You (Official Video)

Logic – Loving You (Official Video)

Saw this on Lowkey’s facebook, so may be late with this post, yet after hearing Logic on tracks with Lowkey in the past, we had to play this!

His lyrics are strong and have positive real meaning. Keeping awareness of situations we live in today that we turn a blind eye to, and for an artist to input that into music that can be shared with others, than to produce a pop track, (which you can see what Lowkey was saying within – The Warning) to make money, is staying true, and this music will spread naturally everywhere, without aid.

Lowkey vs Chipmunk in New York City Episode 1

Lowkey vs Chipmunk in New York City (Episode 1)

This just cracked us up. It’s all sprouted from a little dispute over twitter and now reached over the waters.

We don’t need to go back into the details, but this amazed us. Someone like Chipmunk; who everyone knows in the UK, who has had number 1 records is not known to the regular individual in America.

Lowkey on the other hand, someone who isn’t in the media as much, is known and respected over their, for his lyrical talent and movement.

You don’t have to have a number 1 record to be respected, so everyone appreciate one another, theirs always someone better than you in their own way.

Lowkey The Warning Chipmunk Diss

June 10th, 2010 | By SamKhanMusic

Lowkey goes in on Chipmunk with this diss track entitled ”The Warning”

The whole thing started when the two rappers had a short and unfriendly exchange on Twitter after Chipmunk released his Woo Riddim.

”Lyrical skill isn’t measured by your income” is a bar that sums up Lowkeys message behind this attack.

Will Chipmunk come back to this? Will he wanna prove that he still is an actual lyricist or is he beyond caring?

Either way, Lowkey talks about some very relevant topics in this track.

360 Deals that a lot of artists get signed to, where the label benefits MASSIVELY and the artist is almost used. He also talks about shallow spitting and touches on the consequences of ”selling your soul”.

Damn!

Lowkey Session on Charlie Sloth Radio Show

Lowkey Session on Charlie Sloth Radio Show

UK Hip Hop is smashing it right now. UK rappers may not have the biggest public profiles or mainstream attention, but in terms of the real craft, there is a wealth of highly blazing talent out there. Scorzayzee from last week’s Fire In The Booth Session on Charlie Sloth’s radio show is a great demonstration of that, you also have extremely dope artists from the likes of M9, Braydz, Skandal, Ransom Badbonez, Sonnyjim etc…. and of course Lowkey.

What I rate so much about this session is the way he shows his skill in firing continual complex syllables and letters, going in the zone to rhyme all the way through to the bitter end. Its like a variant of his Alphabet Assassin project multiplied by a thousand, and I can totally appreciate how very difficult it can be do that for so long. Lowkey is one of the best spitters around.
